Answers

What spray tan do you use?
Gold Rush. Gold Rush tanning system is one of the best tanning machines/solution on the market. It is high powered, reliable and gives you a beautiful flawless tan and a natural looking colour. We also do a new & exclusive ‘Beverley Hills’ spray tan. Ask for more details.

Do you come to the house?
Yes. Gold Glow is a mobile business, we currently do not have any premises and only do home visits.

What days and times are you available?

Thursday & Friday – 10.30am – 10.30pm

Please note:  These are general guidelines of working hours, we may be available out of these times, please ring and ask.

Does it go patchy or streaky?
No, as long as you look after it. You can’t expect any fake tans to fade as evenly as your natural tan, but as long as you exfoliate and apply moisturizer your tan will not go patchy.  When your spray tan technician leaves your house, your spray tan should already be flawless, any streaks or problems are usually caused by the client from things such as water or wearing tight clothing.

Is it orange?
No. We like to think our spray tan’s are very natural looking. You can see for yourself by taking a look at our ‘gallery’ for client pictures and looking at our ‘feedback’ from regular clients.

I am very pale. Can I still have a spray tan?
Yes! Any skin colour or skin type can have a spray tan. The tan changes with the pigment of your skin, so even if you had the darkest colour you would not look ridiculous as the spray tan adjusts to your natural colour.

Can you have a spray tan whilst pregnant?
You should seek advice from your midwife and/or GP. If you decide to go ahead you do so at your own risk, Gold Glow does not accept any responsibility. 90% of pregnant clients decide to go ahead with the spray tan as there is no evidence to suggest that the spray tan harms you or your unborn baby. However, there is no evidence to suggest that it doesn't. A spray tan from Gold Glow is potentially less harmful than using self tan from a bottle as the bottled tans have added chemicals to prolong shelf life. Spray tans are also a lot less harmful that sun beds. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like more information on the product to give to your doctor.

How long does it take?
For one person, we are in and out of the house within 20 minutes. For each extra person + 5-7minutes (approx).

How long does it take to dry?
The spray tan Gold Glow uses is superior to an airbrush tan so it virtually dries as it's being applied. You will however be left with a 'sticky' feeling for about 2 hours after, which is why you should wear loose clothing.

How long after having a spray tan do I leave before I get dressed?
You are able to put any loose clothing on straight after, such as a dressing gown or pyjamas. You should wait until you have lost the 'sticky' feeling before putting tighter clothes or a bra on. Avoid wearing white until after your first shower.

How much does it cost?
Prices start from as little as £12 for a full body tan. Price is calculated by area and increases the further distance away from the centre of Swansea. Please refer to 'Gold Glow Prices' also featured on this discussion board to find your area. Or call 07740176988. Discounts are given for parties of 6 people or more, see group info for more details. Half body tan is £2 less than your normal area price.

How much is a half body spray tan?
Half body is £2 less than your normal area price.

What should/shouldn't I do before having a spray tan?
You SHOULD:
Remove makeup, deodorant and jewellery.
Tie hair back.
Have loose clothing to put on after tan is applied i.e. dressing gown, pyjamas.
Cover finger and toe nails with nail varnish or Vaseline.
Shower less than 24 hours before.
Have correct money and loyalty card ready.

You SHOULD NOT:
Moisturise less than 24hours before.
Shave less than 12 hours before.
Do any form of exercise before you've washed the excess off.
Have contact with water/liquids before you have washed the excess off (VERY IMPORTANT).

When can I wash the excess off?
You can wash the excess off the next day. You should always leave your spray tan to develop overnight for best results. Manufacturer's recommended time is anywhere between 12 and 24 hours after tan has been applied.

How do I wash the excess off?
You should have a luke warm shower or bath. Shower is the preferred method. Avoid using a lot of soapy products all over your body as this may make the tan fake quicker than usual. Avoid long hot baths whilst you have a spray tan as this may also make the tan fade quicker.

Will the spray tan stain my clothes/bed sheets?
The spray tan may transfer onto your clothes and/or bed sheets before you've washed the excess off. However it is very unlikely it will stain, although we cannot guarantee this. You should allow enough time to dry before dressing or going to bed. The tan does stain the bones of white bras (just like any other fake tan), so try to wear dark underwear when possible.

Can I shave after having it done?
You should ideally shave the day/night before your tanning session. If you can't, you are better off leaving it until you shower the excess off as shaving will open your pours and cause the tan to make 'dots'. Shaving after you've had a spray tan may take the tan off slightly, but not to a noticeable degree.

How long does the spray tan last?
The average amount of time is 7 days. Although if you take care of your tan it can last up to 10 days.

Can I have a spray tan to go away on holiday?
Yes. The spray tan does act as a slight barrier to the sun but does NOT contain any SPF. You should always use sun protection.

How do I look after/prolong my spray tan?
Moisturising is the best method. Keeping your skin well moisturised helps the tan last longer and fade more evenly. Gold Glow also has a number of Gold Rush products available to buy such as the 'Tan Extender'. Contact us for more details

Are there products available to buy?
Yes. Gold Rush (the manufacturer) produces a number of self tanning products available for you to buy from Gold Glow. Products available are: Tan extender, self tanning mousse, self tanning lotion, tan exfoliater and Aerosol tan (for face and hands - coming soon). Please contact us for more details and prices.

How often can I have a spray tan done?
That’s entirely up to you. Most client’s have them on a weekly or two-weekly basis. Gold Glow recommends leaving at least a 3 day gap between tanning sessions.

What shades are available? And how do I know which one to choose?
There is Dark, Medium and Light* available. What colour you have is personal preference, the dark gives you a very deep natural colour (like you've been on holiday to the Caribbean). The medium gives you a sun kissed natural look (like you've been on holiday to Spain). Shades will vary depending on your skin pigment, a person will olive skin will go darker than a person with fairer skin. *Light also give you a sun kissed look but Gold Glow generally does not recommend this colour as it doesn't make much of a difference and it fades quicker than the medium and dark. Your spray tan technician will be able to advise you and discuss with you what colour would be suitable for you upon arrival of appointment.

Do you have any special offers?
Yes. Gold Glow tries to use special offers as often as possible, see our special offers section on this website for more details or give us a call. How many people can have a tan per house?
As many as you wish. We give great discounts for tanning parties.  You + 5 friends = your tan FREE. Please advise on the number of people when booking your appointment, and let us know if there is any changes. If there are a lot less people than originally booked without notifying us you may incur a charge.

How far do you travel?
Swansea and surrounding areas. Please see our prices for all area prices.  If your area is not listed, or not near any areas listed it is more than likely we do not cover that area. Please note, we do not travel more than 10 miles out of Swansea during peak times.

What about my hair and nails?
We provide you with a shower cap to wear to protect your hair from the solution, although the tan will not stain your hair, it will leave it feeling tacky and greasy if not covered. You should ideally cover your natural nails with nail polish or Vaseline before your spray tan. False nails do not need to be covered.

What if I have spilt liquid on me or have a patch?
You should blend as best you can with your finger. You will be surprised how everything blends in once you’ve had your first shower.

Can I exercise?
Only after your first shower. If you exercise in between having a spray tan and washing the excess off you risk sweating off the tan or it rubbing off on your clothes.

Can I leave the house the same day as having a spray tan?
Yes. What we like most about our spray tans is that as it is applied it comes out a lovely natural looking colour and then gradually gets darker. You should wait until you have lost your ‘sticky’ feeling before getting dressed, and cover up completely if going out in the rain.

Do I need to get a babysitter for the children?
No there is no need. As we are usually in and out of your house within 20 minutes and you are only in the tanning booth for approximately 7 minutes, usually the children will watch.

How do I get the spray tan off?
There is no ‘easy’ way of getting a spray tan off unfortunately no product has been invented to quickly remove the remains of a fake tan. However, try a long hot bath with baby oil in and then use an exfoliating glove all over the body. For places like the palms of your hands and fingers, use toothpaste with a nail brush or hair conditioner. Do not  try to use bleach as it dries out the skin and makes the tan even more stubborn to remove.

Can I have a spray tan on top of another spray tan?
Yes. But the results will not be as good. You should exfoliate your skin and scrub off as much of the previous tan as you can before having another spray tan. The spray tan will be darker than usual when applied on top of another tan. Also the spray tan will not fade as evenly and may be harder to scrub off.
